AOL announces ADSL in the UK

12 June 2002

AOL Time Warner has launched a high-speed AOL Broadband service in the UK.

The company has introduced the service at £34.99 a month, compared to the £30 a month charge set by BT, Freeserve and other Internet service providers.

However, the modem charge is only £25 for members who sign up before 15 July 2002, after which it will rise to £85 after 15 July 2002.

The new AOL Broadband service will provide members exclusive access to multimedia content and services from the AOL Time Warner stable of brands and other broadband partners.

The service offers AOL and Internet at up to ten times faster than 'dial-up' Internet access, and allows other family members to make telephone calls on the same line and at the same time.
